Plans
One monthly payment covering the documents your dispute or case needs, month after month.
Who the plans are for
Some disputes end with one letter. Many do not. There is a reply to answer, then a complaint to put in, then a stage two, then a letter before action — and if it reaches court, a witness statement, a defence, an application.
The plans are for people in that position: a long-running dispute with a council, a housing association, an NHS body, a landlord or a utility company, or a case already before a court or tribunal. You pay a fixed amount each month instead of paying for each document as it comes up.
The two plans
Letters plan
£150 a month for the plan, covering up to five letters a month.
Included:
- General letters
- Formal complaints, including stage one and stage two
- Letters before action
- Reviews of letters you have written yourself
Extra letters beyond five in a month: £50 each, or the list price if that is lower.
Cases plan
£220 a month for the plan, covering up to three court documents a month.
Included:
- Witness statements
- Court forms, applications, defences and statements
- Reviews of court documents you have written yourself
Extra documents beyond three in a month: £100 each, or the list price if that is lower.
Not included: hearing bundles (from £300, quoted for each bundle) and appeals. Both are charged separately at our usual prices.
How the plans work
- The monthly payment is for the plan, not for each document. It is the same whether you use one document that month or the full allowance.
- Unused documents do not carry over to the next month.
- One document is drafted at a time. Send the next request once the current one is with you.
- Each document is returned within 48 hours of us receiving everything we need.
- Up to three edits are included on each document, with the first request made within 24 hours of delivery.
- You will never pay more on a plan than someone buying the same document outright: an extra is charged at the plan rate or the list price, whichever is lower.
- Twelve-month minimum term on both plans.
ClearDraft drafts documents for you. We do not act for you, we do not represent you, and we do not give legal advice. You remain the person dealing with the other side and with the court.
Moving between the plans
You can move up to the Cases plan at any time if your matter goes to court. Moving back down to Letters is available once your case has concluded, or at the end of your twelve months.
Moving up takes effect from your next monthly payment date: you simply pay the new amount from that date onwards, with nothing extra to pay for the move itself. The months you have already paid on Letters count towards your twelve — the term does not start again. A document already being drafted is finished on the plan it started on.
Start a plan
Card payment for the plans is being set up. For now both buttons take you to our enquiry form — tell us about your dispute or case and we will set the plan up with you.
Plan terms
What counts as one document
One document means one document to one recipient, or one document to one court. The same letter sent to three organisations counts as three letters.
Standard documents
The plans cover documents of ordinary length and complexity. If something you send us is unusually long or complex, we will tell you before we start and give you a price for it.
Edits
Up to three edits are included on each document. The first edit must be requested within 24 hours of delivery.
Paying
Payment is taken on the same date each month. If a payment fails, drafting pauses until it clears — we will not start new work on an unpaid month. Your card provider may retry automatically, and you will receive a receipt for each payment.
The twelve-month minimum
Both plans run for a minimum of twelve months. There is one exception: if your case concludes — by judgment, settlement or withdrawal — you may move down to the Letters plan from your next payment date once you confirm it has ended.
Cancelling
To cancel, email [email protected]. At the end of the twelve months, give 30 days’ notice to stop the plan. If you cancel while we are drafting a document for you, we finish that document and send it to you.
Your 14-day cancellation right
As a consumer buying online, you have 14 days from the day you start a plan to change your mind and cancel, without giving a reason.
If you ask us to start drafting during those 14 days and then cancel within them, we charge for each document already delivered to you — £50 for a letter, £100 for a court document — up to a maximum of that month’s payment. The rest is refunded. If no document has been delivered, the whole payment is refunded.
Changes to plan prices
Plan prices may change. We will tell you at least 30 days before any change takes effect, so you can decide whether to carry on.
Before your plan renews
We will remind you before your twelve months end, so a renewal is never a surprise.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which plan do I need?
If your dispute is still being dealt with by letter — complaints, replies, letters before action — the Letters plan covers it. If your matter is already before a court or tribunal and you need witness statements, forms or applications, you need the Cases plan. If you are not sure, tell us where the matter has reached and we will say which one fits.
What if I only need one document this month?
You still pay the monthly amount, and the unused allowance does not carry over. The plans suit people who expect to need documents most months; if you need one document now and then, buying each one separately will cost you less.
Can I send several requests at once?
Send them whenever you like, but we draft one document at a time. Once the current one is with you, we start the next.
Do you deal with the other side or the court for me?
No. We draft the document and send it to you. You sign it and file or send it yourself, and any reply comes back to you. ClearDraft drafts documents; it does not act for you or represent you.
What do you need from me for each document?
The correspondence or court papers you have received, the dates, and what you want the document to achieve. If something is missing we will ask before we start, and the 48 hours runs from when we have everything.
Are hearing bundles on the Cases plan?
No. Hearing bundles start at £300 and are quoted for each bundle, because the work depends on how many documents there are. Appeals are also charged separately.
What happens if my case finishes early?
Tell us it has concluded and you can move down to the Letters plan from your next payment date. You are not held on the Cases plan for a case that has ended.
